The Power of Small Numbers
The change adds up. The average "micro-donation" is 50c. Use your card twice a week (at the gas station and supermarket) and you will give around $50 a year. Track your giving via the Account page.
A Stream of Donations
The Give the Change card links directly to the donor’s bank account and rounds up all transactions to the nearest dollar. Anyone with a bank account can use it. Our approach is secure and efficient. 100% of the “micro donations” go to the charity, with none of the fees they otherwise pay when donors use their credit cards to give, so it is the most efficient way of receiving donations.
Donors
For the donor it’s a painless way of giving and feeling good throughout the year. Their bank statements become a lot neater, with round numbers for each transaction and they get a central place to track their contributions, very useful when it comes to tax time and they are claiming their deductions.
A Card with Your Brand
Each non-profit has cards printed with their own design. This is the ultimate in terms of branding for your charity. The cost for this is $472 for a thousand cards (or 47.2 cents per card).
Our Mission: Expand how people give - More people giving more money to more non-profits
Our mission is to change the way people give to non-profits, increasing the engagement between non-profits and donors.
The story of our company's founding began in a research lab. Whilst interviewing people from different backgrounds, we were struck by how generous the poorest members of our panel were. The truck driver and single mom scraping to make ends meet were most willing to support good causes … the Audi A8 driver was the hardest sell. We also found that giving less than a dollar was painless even to people on lower incomes.
It was those realizations, gleaned while peering through a one way mirror that convinced us there was an opportunity to expand and democratize philanthropy. The opportunity to bring happiness and meaning to people by enabling them to give more and address the world's problems, through the power of small numbers, is huge.
We believe that capitalism is the most powerful system for driving wealth and innovation. Directing that power to yield more positive results is a form of philanthropic judo. Our approach is “lean”. Small teams are more fun to work in, more efficient and effective.
What do we mean by "the power of small numbers"? The change from your spending throughout the year, adds up to more money than you might think. This can make a powerful difference to the causes you support. It's also the power of a few people to spread infectious ideas, ideas that amplify the actions of one individual to help many more. These ideas can turn into movements and "change" of another sort.
